I really should keep my LiveJournal up-to-date.

I actually do have an interesting thing I've been meaning to bring up to my LJ readers. All zero of you. It's about my favorite website on the whole internet, Newgrounds.

I've been noticing an increased level of sarcasm, and general dismissiveness (I don't think that's a word) when it comes to Newgrounders news posts. What started out as a neat way to get feedback on your ideas/progress for your latest cartoons/music/whatever, seems to have become more of a "who can make the funniest sarcastic comment" contest. As a result of this, I've taken to not update there as much as I used to. Let me reference back to a few of my older news posts comments, compared to some of the comments from my latest one.

Here's a few comments from my news posts that pre-date 2/3/08:

"Cant wait to see it done, I think it will look good." (In reference to a cartoon update)

"Looks like a nice menu! I really like the flash dude on the left." (In reference to a picture I posted)

"Seems pretty decent, looks fairly new. My only advice is get a more attractive layout and banner too attract more users." (In response to a post about my old forums)

"mmm i'v seen some of your old jim stuff before! looking good man!! though i find it strange that you still do such an extremely simplified character style when you have a tablet." (In response to a screenshot I posted from an upcoming cartoon)

"Oooo this seems like it is going to turn out awesome!" (In response to another screenshot)

All very helpful/supportive comments.

Now here's a few that have been posted since 6/7/08:

"JIM DAY IS GAY! Remember this when 2009 comes along." (In response to my news post regarding Jim Day 08)

"i hope i never meet a newgrounder in real life" (In response to my comic-con report)

"I..I..I didn't think I cared...." (In response to my announcement that I'm at college now)

"did you intend to totally rip off the style from Future, or what?" (In response to a screenshot I posted of a new cartoon)


These are just a few examples of things I've noticed, it's not just on my blog, go to any of the new News Posts on NG, and I guarantee that there'll be at least a few solely sarcastic and unhelpful comments. I hate to sound annoying or naggy, all in all this really isn't a big deal, it's just one of those things that has driven me away from utilizing my once-a-week NG frontpage post.

It's not like I care if people make fun of me on the internet, but if all I'm going to get is people trying to post sarcastic/witty comments on my news posts, then what's the point of making them?

I'm not sure that "jobless" is a word, but it was the best way to describe my current situation. I've been looking for a job for the past month and a half, and have yet to get anything, sure I've had interviews, and I've applied to a fair amount of places, but I just can't get a job. It's disheartening; so anyway it basically means I've been pretty depressed lately. I'm sure I'll get something, but for now, I'm stuck in job limbo. I really wish there was a way for me to make money with my animations, but it seems that the only way to do that is to find a someone who wants you to make something for there company, or someone who's willing to sponsor your work, and living in such a desolate area, I'd be lucky if I found either of those things.

Moving on, I should actually be sleeping right now, I have to get up and go to class in about... 6 hours or so, but it doesn't really matter, I wont be able to fall asleep for another hour even if I do go to bed this very instant. Whatever.

On a more interesting note, I think I'm going to remake my site. It's always been such a hassle to update, and it's about time I moved into the new age, no more of this basic HTML and pictures. I've got a few friends that I'm sure will be able to help me make it awesome.

If you want to know how things are going animation wise, here's a little update, and if you are completely oblivious to what any of these are, I would recommend just not reading the rest of this journal:

Fizz- 50% Complete
The problem with working on Fizz is that now I'm at the hard part, the part that's going to take forever to make, the fight scene. I'm hoping for an early November release with Fizz, but if not I'll make sure to get a Jim and Pals out there this November.

I Am The Brainwasher- 38% Complete
This cartoon is going to be quite a beast when it's finished, clocking in at somewhere around 11 minutes. I haven't had any problems with Flash de-syncing or anything like that luckily, and hopefully I wont have to deal with it in the near future. I'm shooting for a December release date, it'll be like a big Jimtopia Christmas present, at least, for fans of Daft Punk and neat looking graphics.

Tetris Unleashed 4- 1% Complete
That's right, you heard it here first. Tetris Unleashed 4 is going to be coming out next year, I seriously doubt it'll be out by January, but once "I Am The Brainwasher" is done, this is going to be my #1 priority for awhile. I've had the idea for TU4 burning a hole in my head for quite awhile, and now I have the tools to make it truly epic.

Been at college for the past couple of weeks, it's pretty neat here. Meeting a lot of new people, and I'm enjoying living in an apartment with my friends. Plus I have a surprisingly large amount of time to animate. No one ever bothers me, I can eat what I want for dinner whenever I want it. It's just cool.

Which means I can get back to animating! ^_^

Very VERY Important; Please Read-

I'm going to be taking a break from animation for awhile. I'm honestly not sure how long it will be, but I have a feeling that come summer, I'll have nothing else to do (excluding my job) but animate. So it's only for a couple months max. Don't forget about me though, I'm not giving up on it entirely, I just need to get my life in order right now. Hopefully the few people that do check my LiveJournal posts understand this.

As a result, I am probably going to be updating my LiveJournal a fair amount, hopefully once a week or something like that. So keep an eye out here for those updates about my everyday life. Just don't expect to see any new cartoons for awhile.

Well, the title is pretty self-explanatory. I got a new Wii game entitled "No More Heroes." Anyone heard of it? Probably. I believe it's fairly popular, and if it isn't it should be. It's definitely one of the best Wii games I've played. Ever. No joke, it's one of the best. I hope that, if you own a Wii, you go and pick it up. It's worth the $50.00. I was actually pretty excited to learn that this game was so great (it got like 8/10 on IGN, 9/10 on Gamespot, and 5/5 on X-play) because of the lack of actually good Wii games there were out there. It's kind of tough being a Nintendo fan-boy at the moment, just because a lot of Microsoft fan-boys are calling the Wii more of a "gimmick," which, if it doesn't get more hardcore games, it's going to become. I was just glad to see this game not suck, is all I'm trying to say.

    Been awhile since I posted here, mainly because no one reads it... or maybe you do read it! Whatever, if you do, leave a comment so I know you exist. The more comments you leave per news post, the more news posts you get, that's the deal.

    Onto real life matters and whatnot. Well, I'm eager for Christmas (obviously) because I may be getting one of the most important things I could ever actually get, a Wacom Tablet! If you're a fan/follower of my flash animations, you may know that I currently use the mouse to draw.... everything; but if I got one of those babies you'd be able to see my real drawing abilities in action! I'm almost positive I'm getting one, because whenever I ask my mom what she got me, she always says the answer in a singular tense instead of a plural one (I.E. I know you're going to love this thing!). My mom underestimates my intelligence. He he he...

    On another Christmas note, I'm currently in a bit of a blunder. Okay, I discovered that the new Daft Punk album Alive 2007 was coming out on November 19th via the Wikipedia page I just showed you, and me being a huge fan of their music, I got psyched. Now, I was expecting it for my birthday this year, because that's what I suggested that my mother get for me, perhaps it was dumb of me to expect it, but whatever, when I found out I hadn't gotten it (I got Super Mario Galaxy instead) I decided to "get it" through the "internet" by "utilizing my resources." Long story short, I now have it on my computer.  Continuing with the story, I put it on my MP3 player and brought it along with me on a trip to go see my sister, when my whole family was gathered in the living room, my dad saw that I was boppin' my head to some music, and asked what it was, I told him it was Daft Punk and he immediately asked: "Is that there newest album? The Alive '07 one?" Now, my dad knows very little about Daft Punk, so when he guessed exactly what it was I realized that he must have bought me the album for my birthday. I told him that it wasn't the new album, and that I hope I can get it soon, he smiled and leaned back in his chair again. So now I feel bad for having downloaded/heard it before I actually got the album. If/when I do get it from my dad, I'll delete it off my computer and put the actual version on, just to be nice.

I gotta tell you guys, one of the most important things I've done in my life happened today. I took a Compass test to see if I could get into a college. I wont know for a little while, but we'll see soon enough. I can only hope. The test itself wasn't that hard, and didn't take very long, so my spirits are high. But my brain just needs to shut down for awhile after that. *yawns*

Stephen Colbert to Run for President

NEW YORK (AP) — Stephen Colbert announced his candidacy for president on "The Colbert Report" on Tuesday night, tossing his satirical hat into the ring of an already crowded race.

"I shall seek the office of the President of the United States," announced Colbert on his Comedy Central show, as balloons fell around him.

Colbert had recently satirized the coyness of would-be presidential candidates by refusing to disclose whether he would seek the country's highest office — a refusal that often came without any prompting.

His recent best-seller, "I Am American (And So Can You!)" afforded him the opportunity to mock the now-standard approach to a White House run, complete with a high-profile book tour.

The Comedy Central host has often mobilized his fans ("Colbert Nation"), encouraging them to vote to have a Hungarian bridge named after him, for example, or to vandalize Wikipedia.com with his version of "truthiness" and "wikiality."

How far the mock conservative pundit planned to stretch his impression of a presidential candidate wasn't clear. Colbert rarely breaks character on camera, including at his memorable speech at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner last year.

Colbert planned to get his name on the primary ballot in South Carolina, where the comedian is originally from. Earlier this week, South Carolina public television station ETV invited Colbert to announce his candidacy on its air.

When recently asked what party affiliation he would adopt if he tossed his hat in the ring, Colbert replied: "Both. I can lose twice."

In a guest column for Maureen Dowd in Sunday's New York Times, Colbert wrote: "I am not ready to announce yet — even though it's clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative."

I can't believe this... the one game, ONE GAME, that I really truly absolutely wanted this year has been moved to next year... According to IGN, Gamespy, Game Informer and Game Trailers, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is being released February 10th, 2008. I was so eager to get it for Christmas, to play it with my friends during Christmas break this year. I guess I can safely buy Super Mario Strikers Charged without worrying about my funds. The only good thing about this is that it will be all the more rewarding when we finally do get it.

Hello Everyone! TU3 is a smashing success, with over 6,000 views and over 800 votes, it's one of the most succesful cartoons I ever made, did I mention that it's on the frontpage?! ^_^ Best thing ever.

Well, it seems as though all my work has paid off! TU3 is doing better than any of my cartoons ever! ^_^ Just thought I'd let you all know.

Well, over the last two weeks I have been working almost non-stop on Tetris Unleashed 3! It's been tough, but It's really paying off in the cartoon itself. I have been staying focused with the rhythmic repetition that is Daft Punk's music. Animation is pretty tedious, and the rhythm really helps me stay on task. I also learned this week that I'm not addicted to Vault, in the sense that I don't need it to animate, I do fine without it. So overall it's been an awesome week! Wish me luck as I try to make my deadline of October 5th to release TU3!

Now for the story, see I was watching Attack of the Show on G4 awhile back and I saw an advertisement for a site called crackle.com now, at first I thought it was a Youtube rip-off, but when they mentioned that some prizes included $15,000+ and movie deals, I got more interested, currently they are hosting a "Shorts" and "Wet Paint." Shorts is basically just submit a short video that you've made, and you could potentially win a movie deal with columbia studios! Wet Paint is a cartoon contest, that could lead to a possible sony-sponsored theater short, which could lead to a movie!
